About Residence Zanzibar

Located on the serene southwest coast of Zanzibar, on a mile-long powdery white sand beach, the Residence is a five-star luxury resort that expertly blends modern comforts with Swahili, Omani, British and Indian influences. The tropical gardens hide spacious, private villas, which are attended by personal butlers. Days can be spending relaxing by your private pool, on the beach or in the ample gardens, or taking part in any number of activities offered by the resort and nearby. The Residence's 66 luxuriously appointed villas are traditionally decorated and offer the perfect combination of space and luxury. Lounge decks are furnished with wicker chairs and daybeds, overlooking private pools perfect for a refreshing dip, with views of the garden, beach or the sparkling cerulean Indian Ocean. Each of the villas is provided with bicycles to help you explore the grounds. We love the Frangipani Oceanfront Pool Villas, with panoramic views of the shoreline and large living rooms that extend to private pools.

Dining facilities include The Pavilion Restaurant, where the Middle East meets the Mediterranean in a coming together of flavours, and The Dining Room, which hosts breakfast, lunch and dinner overlooking the beach. Dinners include a menu of tantalising cuisine laced with Zanzibari flavours, combining the freshest ingredients and meats with Omani and African influences. There's also 24-hour in-room dining should you find it hard to leave your luxurious villa, and a poolside bar that provides welcome refreshment.

The Spa, the hotel's star attraction (unless we're counting the beach, of course) offers six spacious treatment pavilions, a whirlpool, sauna and steam room and a whole host of treatments to invigorate mind, body and soul. Complimentary activities at the resort include tennis, cycling, a fitness centre, kayaking, pedal boat hire, Hobie Cat sailing and snorkelling. Kite surfing, deep-sea fishing, dolphin safaris, dhow cruises and scuba diving are available at an additional charge.
