Beijing

Your perfect introduction to Beijing is a guided tour of the city’s symbolic Temple of Heaven. Next, explore the ancient hutongs, traditional alleyways that wind through atmospheric neighbourhoods. Honquiao market offers another fascinating insight, with tempting pearls on offer among the countless colourful stalls. We’ll guide you around iconic Tiananmen Square and behind the walls of the Forbidden City. And so to the Great Wall of China, where you can survey the countryside panorama from atop a true wonder of the world.

Xi'an

Take a stylish high-speed train to historic Xi'an, home to the Terracotta Warriors. Dating back to 200BC, every one of this incredible 8,000-strong army has unique facial features, along with a full complement of chariots and horses. Xi'an also boasts the stunning Big Wild Goose Pagoda, and a Muslim Quarter that is a delight to cycle round. As you explore Xi’an on two wheels, free to complete a circuit of its ancient city walls before you fly on to Yangshuo

Yangshuo

It’s all aboard a bamboo raft for a ride down the Li River. In Yangshuo, you'll later be able to escape on to country roads, cycling alongside the area’s characteristic paddy fields and orchards. En route, you can stop at a local family home to experience a slice of real country life. In the evening, be sure not to miss the amazing Liu San Jie light show.

Longsheng

A scenic mountain road delivers you to Guangxi, where you can climb the forested mountain slopes which form the backbone of southern central China. Your spectacular hike will bring you to Heping in Longsheng County, where you can visit the friendly locals in a traditional village surrounded by the paddy fields where they tend their crop of rice.

Hangzhou

After hiking the Longii Rice Terrace you've a short flight to Guilin, the gateway to Hangzhou. The Lingyin Temple offers history and world-renowned spectacle in a peaceful spiritual ambience. Then it’s into the verdant hills of Mei Jia Wu Tea to learn how tea is picked and cured before a traditional Chinese tea ceremony. Finally, the former imperial retreat of West Lake promises a private boat trip and the chance for a picturesque bike ride before flying back to Shanghai.

Shanghai

The scenery today is distinctly urban, as you embark on a walking tour of the historic Bund, Shanghai's atmospheric waterfront. You’ll see many of the city’s most beautiful buildings. Hopping into a motorcycle sidecar, the pace picks up as you are whisked off on a tour of the modern city. Your final full day includes a walk through the old Chinese Quarter to the river promenade, and an afternoon free to explore at your own pace.
