Find peace and tranquility as you cruise on crystal waters

Take an Inle lake cruise and you’ll discover a charming, magical place. Compared to other SE Asia regions, Inle Lake is still relatively undiscovered by tourists. Located in southern Shan State, Inle lake is surrounded by rugged hills and dotted with green islands.

The hosts of villages that dot the lake’s shores and cover many of its islands are largely inhabited by the industrious Intha people. You can get up close to their houses that are built on stilts to protect them from changing water levels. This will give you a unique perspective and make for truly fantastic photos. As well as settlements, the shores and islands of Inle Lake are home to over 100 monasteries and more than 1,000 pagodas.

An Inle Lake tour will take you to the most important and the most beautiful of these structures, while giving you the chance to observe life on the waterway. You’ll be able to appreciate the lake’s beautiful setting too, as well as its calm waters, lush green hills and welcoming people. The gentle and melodic way of life on the lake is utterly relaxing, whether you’re bobbing along in a dugout canoe, visiting one of the numerous floating gardens and markets, watching the fishermen with their unique fishing style or unwinding on the verandah of your hotel. It’s an unforgettably peaceful retreat from the hectic pace of modern day life.
