Head to Brooke Street Pier on Franklin Wharf to begin your full-day whisky tour. Visit three working distilleries to meet the whisky makers. Enjoy behind-the-scenes access to the distillation process. Lunch features some of the key Tasmanian ingredients which gives this island an international culinary reputation.
Your route showcases some of the most impressive scenery this stunning island has to offer. Travel through Coal Valley, the Southern Midlands and along the Tasman Peninsula. As well as being picturesque to look at (and photograph) you will learn why these landscapes hold ideal qualities for manufacturing whisky.
While you certainly have a chance to sample some high-quality single-malt whiskies and spirits, you’ll also learn about the importance of the drink here. In the mid-19th century, a prohibition was placed on whisky distillation until this wasn’t lifted in 1991. However, in the short time since these laws were overturned, the enterprise is already booming.
