Adelaide - Barossa Valley

Your South Australia itinerary kicks off in Adelaide. From here you’ll head to Barossa Valley. This region is famous for its excellent wine and you’ll have the chance to try your hand at winemaking before enjoying a gastro lunch. We can highly recommend dinner at The Louise this evening, where the food is second to none.

Barossa Valley - Flinders Ranges

As you drive to the magnificent Flinders Ranges, sit back and absorb the dramatic landscape. Stopping for lunch along the way you’ll continue to Arkaba where your next three nights will be spent in an elegant 1850s homestead and sheep station that lies in 242km² of outback. Classic Australian country hospitality is the hallmark here, courtesy of the resident chef who specialises in traditional station cuisine with contemporary touches.

Flinders Ranges

You'll have the whole day free to explore the Flinders Ranges. While the mountains certainly catch the eye, be sure not to miss the Bunyeroo and Brachina Gorges to the west. After a day of adventure in these beautiful mountains, return to the homestead. Enjoy a delicious Aussie meal with your hosts and finish off with a nightcap beneath the stars.

Flinders Ranges

The Flinders Ranges are so expansive, you’ll be glad of a second day to explore. If you’re feeling intrepid, we can highly recommend a scenic flight over spectacular Wilpena Pound, a heart stopping natural amphitheatre of mountains. You could also take a guided bushwalk to see what wildlife you can spot, before relaxing back at the homestead with a sundowner as you wait for dinner.

Flinders Ranges - Kangaroo Island

After breakfast, depart for Adelaide before flying on to Kangaroo Island. Located on a rugged cliff top at Hanson Bay, the achingly-chic Southern Ocean Lodge commands spectacular views of the ocean. Offering the ultimate fusion of nature, comfort and gastro dining, the lodge also has a superb collection of fine wines. Settle in for the evening with a prime vintage and watch the sunset over the coast.

Kangaroo Island

Discover the island's magnificent scenery and abundant wildlife. It’s a microcosm of everything classically Australian: red earth, white-barked gum trees, big skies, koala, kangaroo and possum. Sometimes referred to as Australia's Galapagos, the island is also home to seal lion and fur seal. Back at Southern Ocean Lodge, enjoy the exquisite cuisine crafted from locally-grown ingredients.

Kangaroo Island

Discover the provenance of Kangaroo Island’s extraordinary produce and the passion of its producers. A gourmet tour allows you to sample all the local specialities. Sample seafood, artisan cheeses, raw honey, free-range eggs, marron, native spices, yoghurt and fine wine. Later, the lodge chef will present a private master class showcasing all these different ingredients.

Kangaroo Island

Enjoy a leisurely morning at the lodge, perhaps with an invigorating natural treatment at the spa. Once you’ve packed your bags, it’s time to say your farewells and tear yourself away from this unique destination. Catch a return flight to Adelaide before ending your break, or continuing your Australian tour.
