UK - Poas Volcano

At San Jose we’ll meet you and your tailor made Costa Rica tour will begin. First stop is Poas Volcano Lodge. Nestling in the mountains this lodge offers impressive views of the Poas Volcano and Caribbean Plains. In this secluded spot you can listen to the mountain birds and get some rest before your holiday picks up a gear.

Poas Volcano

Your Costa Rica adventure starts in truly spectacular fashion with a trip to Poas Volcano National Park, home to the largest active volcanic crater in the world. Local guides will tell you all about the mile-wide crater which bubbles with sulphuric acid. Pep yourself up with a caffeine hit on a visit to Doka Estate for a coffee tour, where you'll learn the full process of coffee making and its history.

Poas Volcano - Tortuguero

It’s an early start today with a morning drive to Tortuguero's dock, passing through banana plantations and Braulio Carrillo National Park. You’ll spend two hours on your canal trip to Tortuguero giving you ample time to spot caiman and an abundance of different bird species before arriving at Manatus Lodge.

Tortuguero

Jump on board for a boat tour of the park's channels and canals, stopping to explore the local town. The National Park is a major nesting area for green sea turtles and protects over 300 additional species including the endangered green macaw and jaguar.

Tortuguero - Arenal

A days travelling is needed to reach the splendours of Arenal so, after breakfast, board a boat to Guapiles from where you'll be driven to Arenal. We promise it'll be worth it - at 5,437ft the Arenal Volcano looms large over your lodge as you settle in for the night.

Arenal

Fresh from a good night's sleep at Arenal Nayara, set off for a morning's kayaking on Lake Arenal with stunning views of the Arenal Volcano. In the afternoon, you’ll enjoy a gentle hike along the base of this staggering volcano and visit the volcanic thermal mineral pools at Hot Springs where you can indulge in a relaxing soak and delicious dinner.

Arenal - Santa Teresa

Today, you leave the highlands and tropical cloud forests behind. We’ll whisk you away to the beaches of the Nicoya Peninsula and of Santa Teresa, an undisturbed and tranquil part of Costa Rica's North Pacific coast. Whether you come for the thrills or just to chill out, you can find plenty to do here. Relax in an open-air casita or on the beach, spot the nesting turtles at night or take a refreshing dip in the Pacific..

Santa Teresa

We’ll pick you up for your private horseback riding tour of Hacienda Ario, a cattle farm famous for its conservation efforts and sustainability ethos. This family-owned working ranch spreads over 4700 acres, taking in soaring mountains, rolling hills, river valleys, mangrove forests and deserted beaches. There’s nothing for it but to ride out and see it! As well as making the most of the ever-changing scenery, you might spy a monkey or even a crocodile on your way.

Santa Teresa

Surfing dude or utter boarding novice, it doesn’t really matter because the instructors during your private surf lesson will work at your level. Santa Teresa is a world-class surfing beach, with tropical warm waters and waves all year round. Conditions here are ideal for learning to surf, and people travel here from all parts of the world to do so.

Santa Teresa

After so many different activities it’s time to take a rest and enjoy a day to yourself. There’s plenty to do at Latitude 10 whether you want to kick back and relax or squeeze even more adventure from your holiday. Enjoy a sunset as you listen to the howler monkeys in the treetops behind you, go sea kayaking to the Curu Wildlife Reserve, enjoy a beer with the locals in Santa Teresa or simply relax under healing hands with an open-air massage in one of the resort’s casitas.

Santa Teresa - San Jose

It’s a short flight back to San Jose. Xandari Resort & Spa drapes itself over a 40-acre coffee plantation, with stunning views wherever you stand of the Central Valley. Enjoy a refreshing dip in the sunset pool, try your hand at a spot of birdwatching or head into nearby woodland and discover the waterfalls there.

San Jose - UK

It’s time to fly back to the UK, unless the country's intoxicating Pura Vida seduces you to further extend your adventure. You’ll leave feeling relaxed and refreshed with some amazing memories and some great photos to pop in your holiday album.
