Upon arrival at Athens airport, you’ll be met by one of our team and driven to the Electra Palace hotel, your home for the next two nights. As the sun sets, enjoy the views from the hotel’s rooftop restaurant, looking out over the Acropolis.
Get a closer view of the iconic Acropolis as you enjoy a private guided tour. See the Parthenon and the new Acropolis museum. You may even catch the changing of the guard in Constitution Square. Afterwards, walk through the ancient Plaka district, one of the most picturesque and interesting parts of the city. The afternoon is free for you to explore further, either by yourself or with your guide.
Today, your guide will take you along the coast to Cape Sounion and the ruined Temple of Poseidon. Enjoying an unrivalled position high on the cliffs, it’s the best place to see the sunset. So, you may choose to leave later to catch the sun going down from the temple or one of the nearby hotels. Or, else head out in the morning and spend the afternoon free in Athens.
Today, you’ll pick up your car for the drive to the Kinsterna Hotel in Monemvasia. En route, we recommend a stop at the site of ancient Corinth, formerly one of Greece’s wealthiest cities. Here you can visit the museum and see the ruins of the Piri Fountain, the courtyard of Apollo and the foundations of a Roman Basilica. Take a short detour to Mycenae and marvel at the Treasury of Atreus.
Today is yours to do as you please. Lose yourself in the beauty of the medieval fortress town of Monemvasia, with its fairy-tale setting. Explore the small hidden Port of Gerakas, home to some of the best seafood in the world. Or, why not take a trip to the Island of Elafonisos with its waterfront tavernas and picture-perfect beaches.
Head off in your car to the south west of the Peloponnese and the coast of the Ionian Sea. Stop at Mystra, one of the most important archaeological sites in Greece and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Here you can see well-preserved Byzantine churches, the remains of a palace and visit the archaeological museum. Continue on to Costa Navarino in Messinia, where a room at the Westin Resort awaits.
Home to rolling hills, rugged mountains and gently sloping valleys, Costa Navarino is one of the most unspoilt seaside landscapes in the Mediterranean. You can relax on pristine beaches or explore its hidden lagoons and waterfalls. The region has some of the longest coastlines in Greece. Take a boat out for the day and you’ll enjoy unparalleled views of the area.
Make the most of your last full day as you explore the area further. The local village of Pylos is well worth visiting, or you can cycle or walk in the famous Oxbelly Bay. You can also learn about olive oil and wine making, or explore ancient palaces, Byzantine churches, castles and temples. And, there’s more Greek history to be found on a trip to Olympia.
