Highlights

Classic Portugal

Explore the historic cities of Lisbon, Coimbra and Porto with this classic Portugal itinerary. Your tour begins in Lisbon, where highlights include the vast art collection at the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum. You’ll have plenty of time to browse the city’s lively hill tops and riverside quarter too. Then make your way to Portugal’s second city of Porto, with a stop en route in historic Coimbra. In Porto, visit the atmospheric Ribeira district and sip a glass of port wine at one of the famous wine lodges on the River Douro.

UK - Lisbon

Lying on the River Tagus and spread over seven hills, Lisbon is a glorious waterfront tumble of a city. Steeped in history and full of life, its distinctive bairros (neighbourhoods) are a delight to wander. On your arrival in Lisbon, we’ll meet you at the airport and drive you to your hotel. It’s located in the Bairro Alto, the most dynamic of the city’s districts.

Lisbon

Your first morning in Lisbon provides an insightful introduction to the city with an expert guide. Explore the Alfama Quarter, with its steep streets and alleys. Then head to the Baixa, Lisbon’s main shopping and banking district. The Calouste Gulbenkian Museum in Avenidas Novas is Portugal’s finest museum. The collection includes a magnificent range of artefacts, sculptures and paintings. Find a quiet sanctuary set in its own lush grounds.

Lisbon

Explore the city on your own today. Take to the historic trams and visit the Mercato Ribeira for the best street food Europe has to offer. In the afternoon, relax at the Parque das Nacoes along the banks of the River Tagus. You could also hire a bicycle or take the cable car across the river.

Lisbon - Coimbra - Porto

Head north today towards Porto with your driver and guide. En route you’ll stop in Coimbra, seat of Portugal’s oldest university. Explore the old cathedral cloister and university library with your guide, who’ll also recommend some tasty specialities for lunch. In the afternoon, continue to Porto and the Yeatman hotel. Your riverside home for the next three nights has panoramic views of the old town and Porto’s famous bridge.

Porto

This morning, our expert guide will help you uncover the best of the city. Porto has a picturesque location on a steep hillside above the River Douro. You’ll visit some of the city’s most striking monuments including the opulent 19th-century Stock Exchange. End the day on the Ribeira district's alluring quayside, the Cais da Ribeira, after a port wine tasting at one of the famous wine lodges.

Porto

Spend today exploring Porto under your own steam. We suggest a trip to one of Porto’s attractive Atlantic beaches, such as Miramar in Vila Nova de Gaia. You could also head to the upmarket Foz district, home to many waterfront bars and restaurants. Or take in a performance at the dramatic Casa de Musica, with its cool angular lines and glass walls.

Porto - UK

After breakfast, it’s time to say farewell to Porto and head to the airport for your flight home.
