Northern Kerala Explorer

Start out in Bengaluru, where ancient meets ultramodern. Visit Srirangapatna, a fascinating town of great cultural significance, on your route to Mysuru (also known as Mysore). You’ll learn about everyday life in the City of Palaces and tour the beautiful Chamundeshwari Temple. Your journey then takes you deep into nature. Stay on a 160-hectare coffee-and-spice plantation to experience remote tranquility. Explore vast national parks on game drives to glimpse tiger, leopard and Asian elephant. Discover waterfalls and spot tropical birdlife, take a historic tour through Coorg, and relax at an enchanting riverside hotel for an idyllic end to your voyage.

UK - Bengaluru

Fly overnight to Mumbai, and take a short flight to Bengaluru (also known as Bangalore). After checking into The Leela Palace Bengaluru, spend the evening at leisure. Your luxury hotel is full of relaxing amenities and amazing restaurant – the perfect place to prepare for your adventure into India. Known as the 'garden city of India', the city is full of picturesque parks and gardens, and you’ll find an eclectic mix of modern marvels and historic monuments.

Bengaluru - Mysuru

You will be transferred by private vehicle to Mysuru, visiting Srirangapatna en route. Srirangapatna is a historic place of pilgrimage. Once the seat of a major viceroyalty, it was the centre from which nearby states like Mysuru were ruled. Visit Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple, the ninth-century temple which dominates the city. On arrival in Mysuru, check into your hotel and either relax or explore a little of your surroundings.

After breakfast, embark on a full-day sightseeing tour of Mysuru. Learn about the city’s renowned craftsmanship, using materials such as wood, sandal-wood and local silk. Visit the Maharaja’s Palace, a historic structure adorned with a unique mixture of rich styles. Other sights you can visit are Mysuru Zoological Garden and Mysuru Arts & Crafts Centre, before you reach Chamundeshwari Temple which sits high above the city.

Mysuru - Wayanad District

Travel through stunning scenery to Wayanad District, and check into Tranquil – A Plantation Hideaway. This 160-hectare private coffee-and-spice plantation is immersed within the lush rainforest of Wayanad. Relax after your journey, and enjoy the incredible comfort offered in this remote retreat.

A day at leisure to enjoy this spectacular destination is extremely welcome. Enjoy authentic local cuisine, a spa, Jacuzzi and swimming pool, or drink in the atmosphere of your picturesque living space or luxury treehouse. You can also get active and explore your surroundings. Choose one of 13 walking trails through the plantation to learn about rural life here. As you go, look out for the huge variety of birdlife which live on these grounds.

Travel from the Wayanad District to Kabini, where you’ll check into Evolve Back, Kabini. This stunning retreat showcases the designs of local tribal villages, as well as sweeping panoramic vistas over the Kabini River. During your stay, learn about the rich history of the Kadu Kuruba tribe.

Enjoy morning and afternoon game drives through Nagarhole National Park. Here you can find the highest density of herbivores anywhere in Asia. As well as abundant chital, sambar, gaur and the largest congregation of Asian elephant in the world, you also have a good chance of spotting predators. Here you can tick off tiger, leopard and wild dog. Birders will be pleased to know that as many as 300 species of birds have been recorded in the park.

In Coorg, you’ll check into your five-star hotel; the Taj Madikeri Resort & Spa. Discover an incredible luxury experience at this resort. Enjoy unlimited access to the fitness centre, beauty salon, temperature-controlled pool and outdoor pool. Two restaurants serve a huge range of flavours, and the expansive grounds contain a huge range of fragrant flora to explore. 

Coorg

Your full-day tour begins at Namdroling Monastery, home to 5,000 Tibetan Buddhist monks. Stop at Abbey Falls, before visiting Omkareshwara Temple. Boasting masterful ornamentation, this temple was inspired by Islamic and Gothic architecture. Next is imposing Madikeri Fort. Guarded by two life-size elephants, the mud fort was rebuilt in stone by Tipu Sultan. In 1855 the British erected a gothic-style church in its centre, now an archaeology museum. Enjoy a sunset at Raja's Sea like the Indian kings of old.

Coorg - Bekal

Travel from Coorg to Bekal, and check into Taj Bekal Resort & Spa, Kerala. Situated between meandering backwaters and the Kappil River, this enchanting resort offers complete tranquillity. Enjoy charmingly elaborate architecture, beach-front rooms and villas (with private pools) and vibrant natural surroundings.

Take two days at leisure to make the most of your spectacular destination. Head out to nearby Bekal Fort or go kayaking on the palm-fringed backwaters of the river. Enjoy a romantic dining experience by the river, spend some time on Kappil Beach or go wildlife spotting. Particularly good for bird watching, you can find purple heron, sunbirds and even white-bellied sea eagles here.    

Bekal - Mumbai

Transfer to Mangaluru Airport for a short flight to Mumbai, then fly back to the UK.
