UK - Habarana

Upon arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport, you’ll be assigned a chauffeur guide who will escort you throughout your time in Sri Lanka. Transfer to Habarana, check into your hotel and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.

Habarana - Sigiriya - Habarana

After a morning at leisure, visit the Sigiriya Rock Fortress. This UNESCO World Heritage site is an enormous rock boulder rising 200 metres above the surrounding jungle. Built in the fifth century by King Kassapa I, the fortress served as a royal citadel for more than 18 years. Admire the mirror wall, the Sigiri graffiti, the famous Sigiriya frescoes and the great lion paws. As well as the phenomenal views, you’ll even find a fully functional swimming pool at the summit.

Habarana - Polonnaruwa - Minneriya - Habarana

Journey to Polonnaruwa, the second kingdom of Sri Lanka, to find an interesting blend of archaeological monuments. The iconic man-made reservoir here was appropriately named Parakrama Samudra (the sea of Parakrama) due to its size. You can also explore this site by bicycle. Next, visit Minneriya for a game drive with a local trekker. This is one of the best places to see Sri Lankan elephant, and depending on the season, you may see herds up to 300 strong.

Sigiriya - Kandy

After breakfast, head to your hotel in Kandy. In the evening, visit Kandy Temple of the Tooth Relic, one the most important temples for Buddhists. The thevava or ‘offering to the Sacred Tooth Relic’ takes place three times a day, and a visit during this time is incredibly atmospheric. Experience the sound of drums and the smells of lotus and jasmine flowers as the ceremony begins. Visit in July and August to see the Kandy Esala Perahara pageant.

Kandy - Peradeniya - Kandy

Visit the Royal Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya with Bandara Palipana, an experienced botanist who has worked in these gardens for over 30 years. Undoubtedly the most colourful exhibit is the orchids, where a priceless collection of over 300 varieties bloom in all their glory. Continue to central Kandy for a city tour. Visit historic Kandy Lake and the scenic Victoria Golf Club. Here you can peruse silverware, brassware and gem-studded jewellery designed by Kandyan craftsman.

Kandy - Beruwala

After breakfast and some time to relax at your hotel, check out and leave for Beruwala, site of the first Muslim settlement in Sri Lanka. Check in to your hotel and spend rest of the day at leisure.

Beruwala

Spend the day at leisure, enjoying the amenities of your hotel. You can also explore the local area, spend some time relaxing on the beach or even climb Little Adam’s Peak.

Beruwala - Colombo

Head to Colombo for your city tour. Dating back over 600 years, Colombo has long been a hub of international trade. The many Buddhist and Hindu temples, mosques and churches reflect the variety of religious practises here. Visit Gangaramaya Buddhist Temple, Pettah bazaar area, Wolvendaal Dutch Church, the Old Parliament complex and many other fascination sights. Before heading back to your hotel, enjoy a sundowner at the iconic Galle Face Hotel with fantastic views of the Indian Ocean.

Colombo - UK

After breakfast at the hotel, transfer to the airport in time for your flight home.
