About The Haliburton, Halifax

Converted from a stylish trio of heritage townhouses, The Haliburton in downtown Halifax is one of Nova Scotia's finest boutique hotels. Located in the heart of the quirky and progressive city, and just steps away from the museums and attractions, it's the ideal hotel to start or end your journey to Atlantic Canada. The whole ethos of The Haliburton is that smaller is better; it prides itself on its unique experiences such as enjoying a local Tall Ship ale from the nearby Garrison Brewery in the private garden, the daily 4pm dinner menu reveal and roasted fair-trade coffee from the lobby (which means you won't even need the thoughtful coffee pod machine in your room).

Each of the 29 rooms and suites is bright and breezy with super sumptuous bedding, iPod-friendly radios and Keurig in-room coffee. One bedroom suites have separate sitting rooms with cosy fireplaces, wet bars and fridges. To really push the boat out (you are mere metres from the Atlantic, after all) we like the Grand Suite, with its four poster bed, large living room, fireplace, entertainment centre and single-jetted air tub. We love that each of the rooms is individually designed, some with wood-burning fireplaces or private balconies overlooking the garden courtyard.

Onsite you'll find the acclaimed Stories restaurant, where East Coast fusion cuisine is served up by Chef Scott with an imaginative menu that changes every day. Known as one of the city's best kept secrets, it has a great reputation with savvy travellers and long-term local fans alike. Fans of Asian-inspired dishes will love the rice paper sea scallops, Yellowfin tuna and inventive and exotic puddings. There's also a well-stocked library, ideal for unwinding with a digestif.
