Highlights

Highlights of the Florida Keys

Visit the fabulous Florida Keys on an action-packed adventure. This Florida Keys itinerary will take you along one of the most iconic roads in the USA, the Overseas Highway to Key West. You can go sailing, snorkelling or kayaking, and there’ll be ample time for relaxation too. Dine at the end of the historic Seven Mile Bridge, or head to the turtle hospital to see how these animals are cared for. In Key West itself, visit the Ernest Hemingway House before an evening in Mallory Square. Watching the nightly Sunset Celebration with a cocktail in hand is an unforgettable experience.

UK - Miami - Islamorada

Your holiday begins on the idyllic island of Islamorada. With a fleet of skilled fishing captains, it’s considered the sports fishing capital of the world. While you’re here, sample some of the island’s succulent seafood. You’ll find it everywhere from tiki bars and dockside fish houses to beachfront bistros. End your day with a stroll around the boutiques and galleries before a relaxing night’s sleep at the Amara Cay Resort.

Islamorada

After a refreshing dip, we suggest driving to Key Largo. Visit John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park, the first undersea park in the United States. With 178 nautical square miles of coral reefs, seagrass beds and mangrove swamps, it’s a magnet for snorkellers and divers. Back in Islamorada, find a great range of restaurants and watersport activities at Robbie’s Marina. It’s one of the most popular spots in the Keys.

Islamorada - Duck Key

It’s time to head to Duck Key to start your adventure at Hawks Cay Resort. You can encounter dolphins dockside or in the resort’s saltwater lagoon. Enjoy some of the hotel’s activities, then spend the afternoon visiting the famous turtle hospital in Marathon. Witnessing the rescue and rehabilitation of these quirky creatures has proved a big hit with families. Sunset Grille at the foot of the historic Seven Mile Bridge is the perfect spot for a lazy lunch or dinner.

Duck Key - Key West

Today, your Florida Keys adventure takes you to the southernmost point in the continental United States. Key West is a particularly laid-back destination, full of alfresco restaurants and street performers. We suggest a trip to the Ernest Hemingway House. He lived here for more than a decade, sharing it with a collection of six-toed cats, whose descendents still remain. In the evening, visit Mallory Square for the nightly Sunset Celebration.

Key West

There’s plenty to do in Key West, whatever your interests. Take the kitschy Conch Train on a sightseeing jaunt around town, or head out to sea on a classic square rigged schooner. In the evening, Duval Street thrums with people and music. Sip a margarita in one of its many bars, or experience the city’s history and hauntings on a spooky Key West ghost tour.

Key West

It’s your last day, so spend some time at Fort Zachary Taylor State Park and its adjacent beach. Set near the southernmost tip of Key West, the Civil War fort is an atmospheric relic and is often used for special events. Bag one of the picnic tables and settle in for an afternoon’s swimming, snorkelling and sunbathing. If you’re interested in Civil War history, there are daily tours of the site.

Key West - Miami - UK

Head to Key West Airport for your flight to Miami and connection back home. Alternatively, add a few days on to the end of your stay in the cosmopolitan city of Miami. Stay on South Beach and explore one of the most impressive art deco districts in the world. It’s fronted by lively Ocean Drive, where you can grab an early breakfast and watch the sun rise over the Atlantic.
