Philadephia

The home of the American Revolution

Philadelphia is perhaps most famous for the role it played in the American Revolution. It was here where the Founding Fathers met. Here they signed the Declaration of Independence in 1776 and later the US Constitution. But today, Philadelphia is also known for its arts and culture, lively street life, excellent dining and outdoors lifestyle.

On your Philadelphia holiday, take a tour of Independence National Historical Park. It’s crammed with landmarks, including the Liberty Bell, the iconic symbol of independence. Museum Mile is home to some of the country’s most famous institutions. The Philadelphia Museum of Art alone contains more than 200,000 artworks spanning 2,000 years of history. Visit the Rodin Museum, where you’ll find the largest collection outside Paris, including his masterpiece The Thinker. At the Barnes Foundation, view one of the finest collections of Impressionist and post-Impressionist paintings, including works by Renoir, Matisse and Picasso.

The food scene in Philadelphia is vibrant, with a slew of internationally recognised chefs opening restaurants here. There’s also a plethora of breweries, beer festivals and historical brewing tours. And if the great outdoors is your thing, Philadelphia city breaks open up one of the greenest cities in the country. You’ll discover the most extensive urban park system in the world, as well as adventure trails, riverfront and cycling routes throughout the city.
