About Kachi Lodge
Holiday on a lunar-like landscape when you book a stay at Kachi Lodge. The hotel stands at an altitude of 3,600 metres, situated at the foot of Tunapa Volcano and amid the Uyuni Salt Flats of Bolivia. Akin to a space station, Kachi Lodge’s white pods are the best viewing point for all this region has to offer. Providing a wonderful window to the stars, the camp dome acts as an observatory with transparent panels opening out to views of the salt flats and the star-studded sky. This is a viewing station unlike any you will ever experience in such an arid area.
Beneath the stars, luxury is also a forethought – enjoy all the comforts of a hotel room with as much cosiness as you need in this environment. There is excellent heating, lighting and decoration – embracing the cold outside while keeping you warm inside.
While staying at Kachi Lodge, take a morning hike to a nearby island and observe the views of the Salar from behind the giant cactuses. Visit the village of Coquesa where you can see mummified remains sheltered in a cave near the hamlet. More architectural wonders lie at Alcaya, 90 minutes away by car, and if you’re feeling adventurous, a hike to the lower lip of the Tunapa crater valley will not disappoint. Cycle around the salt flats or take part in a salt harvest with the locals before another night with the telescope back at the lodge.
With all this fresh air, a great night’s sleep is guaranteed – if you can close your eyes to the beauty of the sky.
