Estancia los Patos
Why we like it
- Simply furnished rooms give an authentic taste of pampas life
- The hotel is in a wonderful pampas setting, 120km from Buenos Aries
- At meal times guests join the owners and their family for home-reared meat and freshly caught fish, or a criollo-styled barbecue
- Reiki and Shiatsu massages are available
- The hotel has an outdoor pool and sun deck
- Other facilities and activities include a living-room with a big fireplace, a library, horse-riding, polo, hunting and croquet
Polo lessons guarantee to be the highlight of any trip, well organised and with an excellent coaching team you are run through and taught everything you need to know.
The Hotels you (Charlie Lockwood) selected were superb in Peru, Chile, Argentina and Brazil, what a pleasure it has been to stay in the Belmond Hotels, everyone was so helpful, and the Four Seasons in Buenos Aires was equally superb

Celebrating the time-honoured way of life on an estancia, Estancia los Patos is part of a property first established by the Videla Dorna family 200 years ago. It comprises five simple suites and offers an authentic experience of life on the pampas.
The rooms are simply furnished, but very comfortable - with their eclectic furnishings and décor, they feel very much like those of a residential home. In fact, the estancia is so welcoming and inclusive, the whole place barely feels like a hotel at all. It is more akin to staying with friends, though with the amenities and facilities you'd expect of a hotel.
Guests are warmly welcomed into the family and offered polo lessons, horse riding and leisurely carriage outings through the grounds. In the evenings, the estancia's living room, warmed by a roaring log fire and a glass of Argentinean red wine is wonderfully cosy.
