Why we like it

  • Kwando Lagoon is set on the banks of the Kwando River
  • Eight en-suite tents all with inside/outside showers and including a twin room family unit
  • Activities on offer include walks (seasonal), game drives, fishing & evening boat cruises
  • Kwando Lagoon vehicles can operate off road and at night due to being on a private concession
  • The perfect choice of camp for the opportunity to see wild dog in Botswana

A&K Top Tip

Enjoy an afternoon on the river cruise sit back and relax and watch the wildlife as you slowly pass by, maybe a herd of elephant will be drinking at the water's edge.

Guest Testimonial

Once again we have thoroughly enjoyed our holiday with A&K. There was a fascinating mix of location and camp styles and the particular sequence worked very well for us.

Kwando Lagoon is perched on the banks of the wild Kwando River, overlooking the Mudumu National Park in the Namibian Caprivi Strip. This heavily forested site is home to a wide variety of birds and mammal and elephant and hippo are frequent visitors to the camp.

The camp has 8 en suite tents in traditional green canvas each with their own private deck, a perfect viewing platform and place to relax after the early morning safari activity. The main area of the camp is beautifully set out and has lots of areas for viewing the spectacular African vistas. There is a small swimming pool to cool off by in the heat of the day or simply sit and relax enjoy your favourite cocktail and be on the watch to see what wildlife may walk past camp. Dinners are a relaxed affair; communal dinning enables lots of stories to be told surrounded by paraffin lamps and the sparkling African sky.

Kwando Lagoon has a well-earned reputation for big game and large herds of elephant and buffalo, especially in the winter months, when herds of up to a thousand are not uncommon. This vast concentration of game attracts the attention of large predators. The endangered antelope species of sable and roan are also often seen.

Kwando Camps welcome children of all ages and do have a special "Family Safari" programme with your own dedicated guide to not only guide you on your game drives but to look after you in camp and make sure that the children are not only entertained but learning about life in the bush. Some of the activities on offer are spoor castings, using spotlights, fishing, mammal, bird and plant identification, identifying night sounds and making greeting cards out of natural materials.
