The best time to travel is between March and November, rain fall is at a minimum and the days are cooler but clear. Early mornings and evenings can be chilly. The Delta is normally in flood from May until August.

The Makgadikgadi Pans are surreal, hauntingly beautiful and definitely worthy of inclusion in any holiday to Botswana. The Ntwetwe, Sowa and Nxai salt pans are the remains of the world's largest super lake and like nowhere else on earth. With the coming of the rains in November, the pans fill with water and the surrounding grasslands attract herds of zebra, wildebeest and antelope - the last surviving migration in Southern Africa.
During the dry season, the grasslands turn to gold and only the hardiest desert-adapted species remain; rare and fascinating creatures unique to the Kalahari such as the brown hyena, meerkat and springbok.
