The only boutique hotel set within the historic 'village green' (the Quadrado) of Trancoso, UXUA Casa Hotel has become the stay of choice in this beautiful seaside village. Created by the designer Wilbert Das, UXUA consists of 10 casas, many restored fisherman homes, and each created at the hands of local artisans using traditional building methods and organic and reclaimed materials. Every casa offers a private garden, deck or patio, kitchen and dining area, air-conditioning, television, DVD and MP3 player audio system.

There is an exquisite green crystal, lake-like swimming pool, spa and gym. Dining is Bahian cooking at its best and meals can be enjoyed at the poolside restaurant, beach lounge or at a rustic table on the Quadrado. The kitchen is open and guests are welcome to sit at the wooden counter and chat with the chefs to watch and learn the art of Bahian cooking. There is also  beach bar selling locally inspired cocktails.

Outdoor activities include surfing, river rafting, sea-kayaking, horse riding, fishing and exploring the nearby Pataxo Indian Reservation. Sports lovers can bike Trancoso's endless beaches, join in a game of beach volleyball or afternoon football match, enjoy a yoga or pilates session or have a go at capoeira, a traditional Bahian martial art. For those just looking to relax, the UXUA Beach Lounge offers reserved sofas and private areas exclusive to hotel guests. UXUA also features a gym and spa with both indoor and outdoor treatment rooms.

Guest Testimonial

First experience with A&K. Intended to ask various travel companies for quotes but Vicky (Agnew) was so good with her suggestions that we did not seek alternative quotations the suggested itinerary was excellent and helped us decide on a balanced and interesting holiday.
