Phnom Penh was once considered the most beautiful of the French-built cities of Indochina. The city's colonial charm has managed to survive its tumultuous past, and one can still enjoy the beautiful wide boulevards, colonial architecture and bustling riverfront that made it the 'Paris of the East' before 1970.
Be sure to explore the Royal Palace, admiring the 5,000 silver tiles covering the floor of the Silver Pagoda and the collection of shiny golden Buddhas. Another favourite is the Russian Market, which sells a vast array of goods. Whilst here, take time to visit the harrowing S21 and killing fields to learn about the country's tragic recent history under the Khmer Rouge regime of the 1970s.Over the last few years Cambodia art and fashion scene has begun to blossom as a new generation of Cambodian artists takes the fore. Leading the way, Phonm Penh now features chic little silk and art galleries near the National museum that are great areas to explore for quality traditional and contemporary Southeast Asian art.

Our recent awards
Thank you for organising a fantastic holiday (Annie Jensen) The guides and drivers were helpful considerate and polite. All the guides were informative in their own way which we found interesting. As we passed the children they were delighted to see us and practice their English 'Hello'. We spoke to local people and children, everybody was very pleasant. The cycling distances were just right, we had time to stop and take photo's and admire the scenery. It was just superb!
