MV Atmosphere has been designed with exploring uncharted Patagonia in mind, by land, air and water. A small expedition ship, its complement is limited to just 28 passengers, manned by a crew of 32. It carries a six passenger Bell 407 helicopter to airlift explorers to otherwise unreachable rivers and lakes, six jet boats to attack the most remote rivers and a Zodiac Hurrican to scour the coastline in all its rugged glory. Waiting ashore in secret spots are inflatable zodiacs and Mackenzie drift boats to complete this all-encompassing transport system.
The two types of week-long expedition focus on ecotourism and fly fishing respectively, aiming to take guests to breathtaking places that are inaccessible to most travellers. Magnificent, virtually untouched fishing spots, whale watching (best in February and March) and wildlife excursions, nature photography and a raft of outdoor activities such as jet-boating, kayaking, riding and trekking await in this most pristine and untouched part of the world.
On board Atmosphere, a sauna and open air jacuzzi on the top deck await guests after a long day. The spacious lounge, dining and bar area on the boat deck is equipped with books, DVDs and music. Gournet dining on board is accompanied by an excellent selection of sommelier-selected wines.

Best time to be there
As the climate varies hugely from north to south, different places are best at different times, although spring (September to December) is universally good. Atacama can be visited year-round, central Chile enjoys a Mediterranean climate with good weather throughout. Patagonia is best for hiking in Spring or Summer.

First experience with A&K. Intended to ask various travel companies for quotes but Vicky (Agnew) was so good with her suggestions that we did not seek alternative quotations the suggested itinerary was excellent and helped us decide on a balanced and interesting holiday.![]()
