Days 1 - 4 Beijing
Your perfect introduction to Beijing is a guided tour of the Temple of Heaven, a perfect example of Ming architecture and one of the symbols of Beijing. We'll show you around the ancient hutongs, traditional winding alleyways that link the city through a network of diverse neighbourhoods. Honquiao market is another fascinating insight, a popular market for local shoppers and one of Beijing's best places to buy Chinese pearls. We'll guide you behind the walls of the Forbidden City, centre of the Chinese world for nearly 500 years, and Tiananmen Square, the largest public plaza on the planet. We couldn't bring you to China without you seeing one of the Seven Wonders of the World, so we're taking you to the Great Wall of China in Jinshanling, where you can ride the cable car and hike the Great Wall itself before heading back to your sumptuous hotel, the Waldorf Astoria Beijing.

Days 5 - 7 Xi'an
You're leaving Beijing aboard a stylish high speed train, on the way to historic Xi'an and the comfortable Hilton Hotel Xi'an. Home to the Terracotta Warriors, an army of more than 7,000 terracotta figures with their chariots and horses, Xi'an is overflowing with significant history and you can see them all, including every one of the warriors' unique expressions! Xi'an also has a stunning Great Mosque and Muslim Quarter that is a delight to explore. The Big Wild Goose Pagoda is an exceptionally well-preserved symbol of the city's long and illustrious past. Your first taste of cycling in China comes when you collect your bike from the hire shop located on the city walls, which you can explore on two wheels before you head to the airport for your flight to Guilin and on to Yangshuo.

Day 8 Yangshuo
It's time to get active as you board a bamboo raft for a thrilling ride down the Li River before heading to Yangshuo, where you'll escape onto the country roads on a bike, cycling alongside the paddy fields and orchard that characterise the area. En route you'll stop at a family home to see a slice of real country life, chatting to the local farmers before making your way back to the hotel. In the evening there's a chance to see a Liu San Jie show.
Banyan Tree Yangshuo | Meals: Breakfast

Day 9 Longsheng
A scenic mountain road delivers you to Guangxi, where you'll climb the forested mountain slopes which form backbone of southern central China. Your walk will bring you to Heping in Longsheng County, where you can visit a village and enjoy the surrounding paddy fields.

Day 10 - 12 Hangzhou
After hiking the Longii Rice Terrace you've a short flight to Guilin, the gateway to Hangzhou. After a night at the Four Seasons you'll be well rested for your busy day ahead. Pay a visit to the Lingyin Temple, a world-famous historic site, before driving through the lush hills to the village of Mei Jia Wu Tea, where you'll learn how tea is picked and cured before a traditional tea ceremony. Next we're taking you on a private boat ride on West Lake, originally a shallow sea inlet and a once-favourite imperial retreat. Your evening includes a traditional performance.
