Days 1 - 4 Beijing
Your perfect introduction to Beijing is a guided tour of the Temple of Heaven, a perfect example of Ming architecture and one of the symbols of Beijing. We'll show you around the ancient hutongs, traditional winding alleyways that link the city through a network of diverse neighbourhoods. Honquiao market is another fascinating insight, a popular market for local shoppers and one of Beijing's best places to buy Chinese pearls. We'll guide you behind the walls of the Forbidden City, centre of the Chinese world for nearly 500 years, and Tiananmen Square, the largest public plaza on the planet. We couldn't bring you to China without you seeing one of the Seven Wonders of the World, so we're taking you to the Great Wall of China in Jinshanling, where you can ride the cable car and hike the Great Wall itself before heading back to your sumptuous hotel, the Waldorf Astoria Beijing.

Xi'an also has a stunning Great Mosque and Muslim Quarter that is a delight to explore. The Big Wild Goose Pagoda is an exceptionally well-preserved symbol of the city's long and illustrious past. Your first taste of cycling in China comes when you collect your bike from the hire shop located on the city walls, which you can explore on two wheels before you head to the airport for your flight to Guilin and on to Yangshuo.
