Xian is the capital of Shaanxi province, located in the southern part of the Guanzhong Plain. It is surrounded by water and hills, with the Qinling Mountains to the south and the Weihe River to the north.

Xian is home to many museums and relics and it is because of its cultural and historical significance that the Shaanxi Province has been referred to as a 'Natural History Museum'. Here you will find the Museum of Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses, the Mausoleum of Emperor Qin Shi Huang and even Xian's City Wall is of historical importance being the largest and most intact castle from the Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1644).  The natural landscape around Xian is also marvellous, with views of Mt.Huashan, one of the five best-known mountains in China.

Gastronomes will not be disappointed here as Xian has been praised as 'the capital of table delicacies'.  A vast array of cuisine is on offer including specialities such as the delicious Shaanxi snack, Guangdong and Sischuan Cuisine.
