Xian is the capital of Shaanxi province, located in the southern part of the Guanzhong Plain. It is surrounded by water and hills, with the Qinling Mountains to the south and the Weihe River to the north.
Xian is home to many museums and relics and it is because of its cultural and historical significance that the Shaanxi Province has been referred to as a 'Natural History Museum'.
