Day 1 UK / San Jose
Travel to San Jose with Iberia on a day time flight via Madrid. On arrival a representative from A&K will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your first night in Costa Rica.

Day 2 San Jose / Golfo Dulce (South Pacific)
After breakfast take a short flight to Golfito, where a representative of Play Cativo will meet you at the airport and enjoy a 25 minute scenic boat ride to your hotel. Playa Cativo is set in the heart of Costa Rica’s Rainforest on the coast of Golfo Dulce, accessible only by boat.

Day 3 Dolphin and Whale Sightseeing
Today enjoy a private dolphin and whale sightseeing tip. The Golfo Dulce is one of four tropical fiords around the world, and home to a variety of marine wildlife. With large mangrove areas and many rivers flowing into the gulf from the surrounding rainforest, the ocean is rich in minerals. It provides a healthy food source for dolphins, whales, sharks and sea turtles.

Day 4 Playa Cativo / Lapa Rios
Today leave Playa Cativo and depart for Lapa Rios – the journey itself is an adventure with a combination of boat and car transfers. National Geographic has called this area "the most biologically intense place on Earth". Here you can connect with the remote wilderness of Corcovado in this serene, earthy lodge, where little separates the comfort of the warm interiors from the haunting beauty of the natural spectacles outside.

Day 5 Lapa Rios
There is an array of activities included at Lapa Rios Eco Lodge and today is your chance to experience them. The lodge has four full-time experienced naturalist guides to make sure you get the most out of your experience.

Day 6 Lapa Rios / Pacuare
After breakfast take the local flight from Puerto Jimenez to San Jose, where you will be met and transferred to the picturesque Pacuare River. Here, a private raft awaits you for a thrilling white water rafting adventure to reach your accommodation. It’s a half-day’s journey down the Pacuare River, recognized as one the most beautiful raftable rivers in the world.

Day 7 Private Cabecar Indian Rancho and Rainforest Hike
Today enjoy a private rainforest hike with a visit to a typical Cabecar Indian Rancho, home to Costa Rica’s largest tribe who have lived in harmony with the rainforest for years. This evening, enjoy dinner in the rainforest canopy at "the nest”, a platform 20 meters high in a treetop.

Day 8 Pacuare Lodge
Enjoy a day at leisure at the lodge.

Day 9 Pacuare / San Jose
After breakfast it is time to depart, by raft as you arrived. Your guides will stop the rafts along the journey and lead you up paths and side streams that open onto pristine waterfalls and natural water slides. Lunch will be served along the river, and when you have reached your final destination, you will be met and transferred back to San Jose.

Day 10 Depart San Jose
Transfer to the airport for your overnight flight home via Madird.

Day 11 UK
Arrive back into the UK.

December to March is generally considered the dry season. Temperatures rise in April and the rains arrive on the Pacific side from May to November. The Atlantic side has no specific dry season but there is less rainfall between March and September.
