Quito - the world’s highest capital at 9,350 feet, perched just 12 miles north from the middle of the world and UNESCO stamped for having the best-preserved and least altered historic centre in Latin America. Buzzing with colourfully clad women it’s central plaza definitely offers up an exotic introduction to the country. Day 3 - Quito
On your guided city tour today unearth the fabulous churches and cobbled streets of the city. It’s crown jewel is certainly its 'Old Town', packed with colonial monuments and architectural treasures, chock-a-block full of museums, art-filled churches and Baroque architecture amongst which local life continues in a terribly photogenic manner.  It is a photographer’s and shopper’s paradise. Women scuttle around in colourful shawls and jaunty fedoras, men wearing cowboy hats bounce over the cobbled streets in their jeeps and small boutique filled alleys and hidden craft shops are dotted around.
Head off in the afternoon to enjoy spectacular views of the city and surrounding mountains from the top of Panecillo Hill and some obligatory posing with the Equatorial monument.

Day 4 – Otavalo
Today you will take a full day tour with your guide to the ancient market town of Otavalo. This market is thousands of years old and famous throughout the Andes for its handicrafts, textiles and tapestries. As well as the bustling craft market and stalls with exotic fruit, there is a food market where the locals, dressed in their very distinctive, traditional costumes, come down from their tiny farms in the mountains to sell their farm produce and buy their weekly supplies. Enjoy browsing the market which has now grown to the largest indigenous market in Latin America, before enjoying lunch at a local restaurant.

Day 6-8 Galapagos
Over the next three days explore these incredible islands and discover the inspiration behind Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution. It is the scientists holy grail, it’s draw however is that it’s coquettishly charismatic animals, unafraid of humans, allow you to approach so closely that they become as thrilling for tourists as scientists.  Every day offers a different island, bay or cove to explore and different species to discover. Watch blue-footed boobies prance around statuesque rocks, snorkel with sea-lions or maybe even a shark or two. Don’t be scared, these creatures are more interested in playing than feeling threatened. Taking a stroll across the moon like landscape you will wait for the ginormous tortoise to trundle across your path and on some of the beaches you will confuse the numerous iguanas for rocks scattering the sand.
