Why we like it
- Only 16 passengers per trip can experience the luxury this boat provides
- Naturalist bilingual guide talks you through each newly discovered feature
- Jacuzzi on the Sun Deck for your evening relaxation
- Al-Fresco Dining on the outdoor dining and bar platform
- Panoramic views from the Boats floor to ceiling windows
As well as hikes upon land, water activities are also offered to you. Snorkelling in these clear blue water opens up the oppurtunity to see an unbeatable amount of aquatic life, and fortunately the excursions are timed so you never sacrifice any other experience you'd like to take part in.
Mashpi Lodge. OMG! Unreal, unbelievable and quite surreal. Our two guides Sebastian and Nester took us everywhere. We saw over 100 species of birds including 13 different hummingbirds. The photos I took are brilliant. I can't begin to tell you how fantastic the two days were. Thanks for organising the holiday Eleanor Mawer and thanks to A&K .

Please note that for travel in 2017 the Athala will be known as the Celebrity Xploration.
The M.C. Athala II is a high-end adventure catamaran built to cruise the Galapagos Islands in style. Her specific design offers stability, speed and comfort with exacting safety standards. Communal space is ample and includes a Sun Deck, outdoor bar and Jacuzzi, whilst inside there is a dinning/buffet area, lounge and library. Refurbished late 2012, each cabin has a well-appointed private bathroom, hot water, air conditioning and wooden flooring. All have ocean views with large portrait windows and a one-time fully stocked complimentary mini bar. This catamaran accommodates 16 guests in 8 spacious cabins, four of which have private balconies.
From your comfortable base aboard the Athala II, you will be able to explore the best visitor sites in the islands. There are many opportunities to hike, swim, snorkel, kayak, bird-watch and take great close-up photographs of the flora and fauna. The M/V Athala II anchors off-shore at two visitor sites per day. Join your naturalist guide onshore for excursions - maximum group size is 16 people. All guides are certified Class II or III naturalists and speak fluent English. On the islands you will follow marked trails, walking at a leisurely pace, with your guide explaining the unusual sights you see. You will spend 3 to 4 hours at each site, allowing plenty of time to explore the abundant wildlife. The snorkelling schedule allows several immersions during the cruise. The use of snorkelling equipment and wetsuits is complimentary. Most of the snorkelling activities take place before or after island excursions, so that you will not miss the hikes.
