Best time to be there

Known as the country of eternal spring, Guatemala is good to visit all year round but the dry season is November to May. The climate also varies according to altitude. The low-lying jungle areas such as El Peten are generally hot and sticky, in contrast to the highlands which are pleasantly warm during the day but can be very cool at night.

 NEED TO KNOW

  • Lovely rooms and suites are arranged around a central garden courtyard
  • Casa Encantada is on one of Antigua's many cobbled stone streets, not far from the central plaza
  • Breakfast is served on the hotel's roof terrace, whilst the hotel is happy to recommend local restaurants for dinner
  • A pool is located in the hotel's private gardens
  • Other facilities include a sun deck with loungers and a salon (guest lounge).  A bar is located on the roof terrace

THE HOTEL
Tucked away behind a traditional timber and iron door, this hotel is a hidden gem set amongst colourful private gardens.  With just nine individually decorated rooms, it is an exclusive hide-away amongst Antigua's cobbled streets.

From the outside, it has the appearance of a ranch-style family home, and this is a feeling that permeates throughout, thanks to an intimate atmosphere and friendly, attentive service.  Inside, décor is Antiguan, typified by the locally made armoires and framed ceremonial huilpiles (shawls) that adorn the walls.  Even so, there is no shortage of luxurious touches - from plush bathrobes and Italian linens to imported amenities.

Meanwhile, the salon is a wonderfully cosy space, particularly in the evening when it is the ideal spot for a glass of wine in front of an open fire.

Guest Testimonial

Our consultant (Annie Jensen) really was excellent designing a great itinery minimising our time waiting around for transfers and both hotels, Four Seasons Bali and Oberoi Lombok exceeded our expections.
