Why we like it

  • Luxury rooms and apartments located on the famous Golden Circle route in the south of Iceland
  • Each apartment has its own private terrace with hot tub
  • Close to the waterfall of Gullfoss, the hot water fountain Geyser, Thingvellir National Park and Kerid, a volcanic crater lake
  • Great for families and groups

A&K Top Tip

During the winter months you will likely have the opportunity to witness the legendary Northern Lights, while the warmer summer months are great times for white-water rafting and horse riding.

Guest Testimonial

Our Adventure to Iceland is ended. We had the most spectacular time of our life I think. I have no words to describe it. We felt like ‘kings’. We were treated very well and all of the guys from Land Rover and Abercrombie & Kent were amazing. Like we knew them for years. It was unforgettable. I have to go back.

- LD, Belguim

Located in the small town of Grímsnes sits the Hotel Grimsborgir; it is surrounded by open countryside with beautiful views of the River Sog and snow-capped mountains. Just a 45 minute drive from the capital, Reykjavik, and sitting on the notorious Golden Circle route, the hotel is an ideal base from which to explore southern Iceland.

Choose to stay in one of the 10 spacious apartments or 14 superior rooms; each apartment has its own kitchen, dining room, fireplace and private terrace complete with barbecue and hot tub. Studio apartments accommodate up to 4 guests while the Deluxe Apartments can accommodate up to 7. Superior rooms also enjoy their own private terrace and have access to the hotel's outdoor hot tubs on the porch.

The hotel's restaurant serves delicious regional specialties, such as a traditional Icelandic meat soup and scrummy Grims-Burgers. All dishes are made using fresh local produce. Breakfast is a treat with a tasty spread of home baked breads and pastries laid on each morning.

Best time to be there

June to September is a great time to enjoy a mild ocean climate thanks to the Gulf Stream. It is relatively mild in winter and cool in summer but this is when you can enjoy almost 24 hours of daylight. The weather can change several times during the day. In midwinter, whilst there is little daylight, it is one of the best times to see the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis).
