Best time to be there

March to May and September to November are best times to be in the country, but Jordan's Mediterranean climate is pleasant all year round. Lightweight clothes are advised between May and September. Warmer clothes are necessary for winter and cool summer evenings. Rainwear is needed from November to April. It has been known to snow as far south as Petra.

Jordan; 7 Nights

This journey covers the highlights of Jordan - Amman, Jerash, Petra and Wadi Rum. At the end you get to spend a couple of days relaxing by the Dead Sea.

Day 1 London/Amman
Your journey begins with an international flight to Amman, Jordan's capital inhabited since Roman times. The essence of Jordanian hospitality awaits your arrival at the Intercontinental Amman.

Day 2 Amman/Jerash
Today visit downtown Amman with your expert guide. High above the city, at the ancient Citadel, study the regal columns of a roman temple, an elegant Byzantine church, inventive carvings in the Umayyad Palace, plus digs

and ruins everywhere you step. At the foot of the Citadel, take a seat in the Roman Theatre, carved into the hill. After the tour, drive to Jerash, one of the best-preserved province cities of the Roman Empire. Walk beneath the imposing south gate, making your way up the 'Street of Columns'. Return to Amman for the evening.

Day 3 Amman/Petra
Today follow the ancient Kings' Highway. Your first stop is Mount Nebo, the mountain where Moseswas allowed to see the Holy Land but not allowed to enter it. Ever since the first days of Christianity this mountain has been a holy place and a destination for pilgrimage.Like Moses, from here you have a great view over Jordan, the Dead Sea and Israel. When the weather is clear, you should even be able to see Jerusalem, which is about 40 miles away. Continue to Madaba the 'City of Mosaics' that stands perched on an archaeological site with more than 4,000 years of history buried beneath it.Visit St. George's Church which houses the world famous mosaic floor. After lunch at a local restaurant, continue to Kerak to the Crusader's castle overlooking a valley. After walking around the castle, drive to Petra and check in to the Movenpick Resort Petra.

Day 4 Petra
Put on your walking shoes for a trek through the 'Rose-Red City' of Petra with your expert guide. Entrance to the city is through the Siq, a narrow gorge, over 1km in length, which is flanked on either side by soaring, 80m high cliffs. The colours and formations of the rocks are dazzling. As you reach the end of the Siq you will catch your first glimpse of Al-Khazneh (the Treasury). There are hundreds of elaborate rock-cut tombs and a massive Roman-style theatre.

Day 5 Petra/Wadi Rum
Spend the morning exploring Petra some more and enjoy lunch before heading into the desert sands of Wadi Rum. Arrive at sunset to this vast dramatic desert wilderness. Huge mountains of sandstone and granite emerge from wide sandy valleys. Bedouin tribes still live among the mountains of Rum and their large goat-hair tents are a special feature of the landscape. Experience an exhilarating 4-wheel drive trip over the dunes, forever associated with Lawrence of Arabia. Spend the night in King Aretas Camp in Wadi Rum.

Day 6 Wadi Rum/Dead Sea This morning enjoy an optional balloon flight or camel ride in this stunning location. After breakfast drive via the Desert Highway to the place where Jesus was baptised. After your visit, drive to the lowest point on the Earth - the Dead Sea. Due to high temperatures, low humidity and high atmospheric pressure, the air is extremely oxygenous, making breathing a lot easier. With the highest content of minerals and salts in the world, the Dead Sea water and the dark mud found on the shores have been used for over 2,000 years for therapeutic purposes. Check into your hotel the Movenpick Resort & Spa Dead Sea for your final few nights.

Day 7 Dead Sea
Enjoy the serene setting of your hotel overlooking the Dead Sea. Do not miss an opportunity to experience a 'swim' in the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth at over 400 metres below sea level.

Day 8 Dead Sea/London
Fly from Amman to London.
