Dana Guest House
Why we like it
- Amazing Wadi Dana views
- Wildlife heaven for endangered species such as the Sand Cat, the Syrian Wolf, the Lesser Kestrel and the Spiny Tailed Lizard
- Close to wilderness yet only 30 miles from Petra
- The sunsets across the far side of the Wadi make this an exceptionally beautiful place to be in the evenings
- The guesthouse is famous for excellent local food
- Be sure to explore on foot as most of Dana's treasures remain hidden in wilderness zones where vehicles are not permitted
The terrace is the perfect spot in the morning to watch the amazing birdlife on offer.
We very much appreciated the champagne to celebrate A&K's anniversary. Our guide Omar & driver Basil were both absolutely excellent throughout. Many thanks for making our trip to Jordan so enjoyable and for all the hard work that ensured our holiday ran so smoothly!

Dana Guest House offers nine simple, comfortable rooms set in a friendly ambience. All rooms have air-conditioning and satellite television. Considering that the Guesthouse was originally meant to house researchers, all the rooms share external toilets & showers, except for one suite, which has a private bathroom, adding character and authenticity to the entire experience. Most rooms also come with private terraces that offer spectacular views of the surrounding wadi and mountains.
Situated next door is a small handicrafts workshop and is a great place for visitors to purchase local arts and crafts; there is also a nature reserve museum. The income from the reserve helps to fund the conservation efforts established by the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature (RSCN).
Best time to be there
March to May and September to November are best times to be in the country, but Jordan's Mediterranean climate is pleasant all year round. Lightweight clothes are advised between May and September. Warmer clothes are necessary for winter and cool summer evenings. Rainwear is needed from November to April. It has been known to snow as far south as Petra.
