The Coast , Kenya
One of the finest private retreats on the East African coast, Alfajiri overlooks the Indian Ocean in all its glory, ensuring both privacy and inspirational views. Three butler-attended villas provide a host of accommodation options, from bright and airy Caribbean style bedrooms to a romantic turret suite. Large verandas with comfortable hand-carved sofas dominate the front of the properties, where an infinity pool sits on the cliff edge, merging into the sea and horizon. The Mediterranean influenced cuisine is as impeccable as the service. For those with small children and a desire to relax, two English-speaking ayahs (nannies) are on hand around the clock.

December - March, July - October
Kenya's equatorial location ensures warm weather year round, though it can be cool at night and first thing in the morning. There are two rain seasons, the long rains occur from April to June and short rains from October to December. The rainfall is sometimes heavy and when it does come it often falls in the afternoons and evenings. The hottest period is from February to March and coldest in July to August.
