The endless white sandy beaches and turquoise waters of the Kenyan coastline are the perfect finale to any East African safari or even a standalone beach holiday. Immerse yourself in a unique coastal culture as rich and rewarding as the local Swahili cuisine.

Mombasa is one of the oldest settlements on the East African coastline and still retains much of its character. The old town reflects the Arabic and Portuguese influences. The coastline south of Mombasa is a tropical paradise of palm fringed white sand beaches, where the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean meet beautiful coral reefs.

If you want to experience a little Swahili culture head to evocative Lamu, with its historical Arab influence cannot be beaten. As a World Heritage site this island has retained all of its character and charm without being ruined by too many visitors. Our choice of accommodation would include Peponi Hotel and Manda Bay.

South of Malindi, Watamu is a Marine National Park. The coral gardens are just 300 metres from the shore making it an ideal location for divers and snorkelers alike.

Guest Testimonial

This is the second trip we have done with A&K. (The first was in 1999.) We were very impressed with A&K on the first trip. We were even more impressed with A&K on the second trip. Consequently, we are already considering a third trip with A&K – to Egypt in March 2014.

Weather

Kenya's equatorial location ensures warm weather year round, though it can be cool at night and first thing in the morning. There are two rain seasons, the long rains occur from late March to early June and short rains from October to December. The rainfall is sometimes heavy and when it does come it often falls in the afternoons and evenings. The hottest period is from February to March and coldest in July to August.
