Lion in the Sun
Why we like it
- Lion in the Sun is a stunning boutique property located in Malindi on Kenya's coast
- The retreat's decor is a blend of African and Arabic influences with a touch of 'chic modern twists'
- There is a fully equipped gym, watersports and tennis courts
- Lion in the Sun offers both local and international cuisine, meals can be served beneath the stars or in a summer house
- Lion in the Sun is one of only six exclusive Henri Chenot Detox centres around the world
A dinner under the stars of freshly caught fish accompanied by local cuisine is a real treat and the perfect way to end a lovely day at this stunning part of Kenya.
Our travel consultant Robin was excellent; he was able to answer all our questions and gave us valuable guidance on what to take on our trip. Our travel documents arrived well in advance of our trip and Robin kept in touch right until the time of our departure. We couldn't have asked for anything more.

December - March, July - October
Kenya's equatorial location ensures warm weather year round, though it can be cool at night and first thing in the morning. There are two rain seasons, the long rains occur from late March to early June and short rains from October to December. The rainfall is sometimes heavy and when it does come it often falls in the afternoons and evenings. The hottest period is from February to March and coldest in July to August.
