Day 1 Mexico City

Arrival Day Mexico City - St. Regis Hotel / Evening Wine Tasting at Riviera Gonzalez

Today you will be met by your driver outside of customs (international flights) and will be privately transferred to the St. Regis Hotel. Early this evening meet your private transportation at the hotel lobby to enjoy a wine tasting of one of Mexico´s top wines at the Riviero Gonzalez wine Boutique located in Polanco. The Riviero Gonzalez winery boasts wines from the northern Parras de la Fuente region in the state of Coahuila. Centuries ago, Spaniards planted the first vines on the American continent in this town, and the area continues to flourish with their individualized age-old wine making traditions.

After the wine tasting we suggest that you walk through the beautiful tree lined streets of Polanco to enjoy dinner on your own at one of the many gourmet Mexican restaurants in the area. We are delight to suggest our top-picks for restaurants and can also assist making reservations.

Day 2 Mexico City

Market Tour & Cooking Class at Casa Jacarandas / Waking tour of Historic City Centre 

Accompanied by two locally renowned cooks you will have a cultural and culinary experience in the heart of one of Mexico City´s most artistic and dynamic neighbourhoods – La Roma. The day begins in the morning next to the Medellin market where you will taste authentic Mexican tortillas made with traditional Nixtamal dough and learn how this vitamin rich food has spanned the test of time throughout Mesoamerica. Afterwards, you will walk into the market to discover the colours, aromas and deep-rooted tradition of an authentic Mexican market. With a shopping bag in tow, you will interact with local merchants, taste spices, cheeses, ice cream, single origin coffee from Chiapas, and much more. After tasting and selecting the best fresh ingredients for your menu you will enjoy a short walk to Casa Jacaranda, a beautifully restored mansion where your hands-on cooking lesson begins. Generations-old culinary secrets and techniques are shared during this interactive gathering while you chop, grill, marinate and steam to create a 3-course menu with sauces and garnishes. Once completed you dine on your creations paired with Mexican wine and a tasting of craft Mezcal from Oaxaca.

Later this afternoon enjoy a brief walking tour (approx 2 hours) of downtown historical Mexico City visits to the most important sites such as the magnificent main square (Zocalo), the national palace (time permitting), the Metropolitan Cathedral and an overview of the Templo Mayor from above. This tour will provide a great overview of Mexico´s history.

Day 3 San Miguel de Allende

Private Transfer to San Miguel de Allende/ Teotihuacan Archaeological Site / Walking Tour

Today after breakfast and hotel check out you will meet your driver at the hotel lobby for a private transfer to San Miguel De Allende (an UNESCO World Heritage Site). En route Teotihuacan, you will stop for visit at one of the most famous archaeological sites in Mexico. As you explore the site, learn about Teotihuacan’s accomplishments; the Temples of the Sun and Moon and other important structures shed light on the life and times of these powerful inhabitants of Mexico's oldest and most important permanent settlement

After the site your adventure continues northwards towards San Miguel de Allende, at arrival you will settle into your lovely hotel and refresh before meeting your local guide for a walking tour of the colourful and art-filled city centre to include visits to the most important sites such as the famous Parroquita de San Miguel Arcángel designed by the indigenous stonemason Zeferino Gutierrez from a postcard depicting a Belgian Church! The history and lore of San Miguel are intertwined with Mexico´s Independence Movement, and the energy and spirit of freedom of expression have continued on in the lively creative enclave of modern day San Miguel.

Day 4 San Miguel de Allende

Market Tour & Cooking Class with Paco Cardenas

Start with a market tour where you will have a chance to meet local vendors, most of them women farmers from San Miguel de Allende´s surrounding countryside, who each day bring to the market what they have personally grown or produced - local vegetables, fruits, fresh and dried herbs, fresh cheeses, flowers, and fresh and dried chilies. After this vivid introduction to the abundance of local produce you will be ready for your cooking class where you will learn how basic ingredients can be used in creative and delicious ways. Hosted in Chef Paco Cardenas´ home, this is a hands-on class offers a chance for every participant to help prepare authentic Mexican dishes from scratch.

Tie on an apron and get ready to start making salsas from different chilies and vegetables. You will also prepare dishes with the produce purchased from the market, perhaps nopales, squash blossoms, chilies poblanos, chayotes, or cuitlacoche, depending on what is in season. Chef Paco will also show you how to make sopecitos or tortillas with fresh homemade corn dough from real nixtamal. After the work in the kitchen, sit down, relax and enjoy the lunch you have prepared. You will receive a recipe packet for note taking.

DURATION: Total time is 6 hours. Market Tour is 1 ½ hours + class with seven recipes and lunch at Paco’s home is 4 ½ hours / Class Available Mondays Only.

Day 5 San Miguel de Allende

Boutique Vineyard Tour in San Miguel de Allende´s Countryside with Atotonilco Gallery and Gourmet Lunch

Your guide will meet you at your hotel, today you will travel to San Miguel’s countryside, 15 minutes outside of central San Miguel de Allende towards Dolores Hidalgo your day begins with a privately guided visit to Atotonilco, home to a sanctuary that is considered a World Heritage Site. Explore the Mexican Baroque mural work that adorns the chapels and nave and discover why the sanctuary is dubbed the Sistine Chapel of Mexico. After the site you will enjoy an exclusive visit to the, open only by appointment, Atotonilco Gallery the best fine Mexican folk art! Owner Mayer Shacter has found the most talented and imaginative artists and craftsmen working today, traveling all over Mexico to find Mexican antiques, crafts, and folk art that perpetuate the centuries-old traditions of Huichol art, Mexican pottery, Mexican papel mache, vintage serapes, Oaxacan wood carvings, and much more.

Arriving next at Cuna de Tierra you will take a walk through their expansive vineyards and learn how this family run vineyard is now producing 70,000 bottles of their award winning wine every year. You will learn the techniques for growing the perfect grape, and upon tasting the fruit straight from the vine, you will discover how to distinguish the wines made from each type of grape. Climb up the contemporary tower for a bird´s eye view of the different grape varietals and later move along to the modern structures that contain the barrel room and wine production area, that have won awards for architectural design. Your visit will culminate with a gourmet multi-course Mexican lunch paired with a selection of their award winning wines.

Day 6 San Miguel de Allende

Pick up San Miguel / Tequila / Afternoon Tequila Blending Experience

This morning (9:00 am) you will be met by your guide in the hotel lobby for a private transfer to Tequila Historic Centre.

In route (after 3:50 hrs drive) you will stop in Tlaquepaque for lunch (not included), experience the culture combined with artisans work flavour of Mexico in this town. After wards your journey continues (for 50 minutes) towards tequila.

After registration you will settle into your charming hotel located at the foot of the volcano in the magical town of Tequila, the Hotel is just off the main square and offers marvellous views of the iconic church of “Santiago Apostol”. Rest, refresh and prepare yourself for this evening experience, walking distance from your hotel today in a one hour private experience you will discover how it feels to be a master tequilero: learn to combine the different flavour and scents, and take a home a “damajuana” of our own personal blend of Tequila, take part in a tasting of the Maestro Tequilero range: White, rested and aged tequilas. Supervised by an expert in the art of blending, experiment with five combinations to produce your perfect blend and take home a souvenir damauaja of your own Tequila. Enjoy rest of evening, exploring this magic town at leisure and dinner on your own.

Today after an early breakfast (9:00 am) your tequila Expert Guide will be waiting for you at the hotel lobby for a full day (6-8 hrs) exclusive tour of the Mexican Magic Town of Tequila. Prepare yourself to learn and live all about the fascinating and world renowned “Spirit of Jalisco”, the authentic Tequila!

Your experience begins with an “Agave orientation” in real functioning agave fields. Participate in the agave harvest with real Jimadores, followed by a private Tour and Tasting with exclusive access at Tequila Fortaleza - the most traditional Tequila process in the industry, made by a fifth generation tequilero descended from the Sauza dynasty.

For lunch you will enjoy a unique opportunity to experiences the local culture and cuisine with a Jaliscan Lunch at Municipal Market of Tequila, after such an interesting lunch your journey continues with the private visit, for the Tour and Tasting at La Tequileña – a modern boutique distillery of the legendary Fonseca Family.
