Days 1 - 2 London / New Zealand
Depart London on an overnight flight to Auckland. If you wish, you can break the journey in Hong Kong, the South Pacific or Los Angeles.

Day 3 Auckland
Arrive in Auckland, the 'City of Sails', and check-in to the Sofitel Auckland Viaduct Harbour. The remainder of the day is free to relax or enjoy the sights of New Zealand's largest city at your own pace.

Day 4 Auckland / Bay of Islands
Pick up your rental car and drive north to the picturesque Bay of Islands, where you will stay in Russell for two nights. Russell was the first permanent European settlement in New Zealand and is a small town located on a picturesque bay.

Distance: 145 miles | Driving time: approx. 3hrs

Day 5 Bay of Islands
Spend a full day exploring the Northlands, perhaps pay a visit to the Waitangi Treaty Grounds, the historic location of the treaty signed between the Maori Chiefs and the European settlers. You could also take a scenic flight to Ninety Mile Beach or a boat trip through the 'Hole in the Rock'.

Day 6 Bay of Islands / Rotorua

Take a morning flight from Kerikeri airport down to either Taupo or Rotorua, where there are several luxury lodges with unique, beautiful locations to choose from for your two night stay. The region has large lakes and is beset with thermal activity.

Day 7 Rotorua
A day to choose from helicopter flights, golf, trout fishing, canoeing or cruising the waters of Lake Tarawera. Other sights include the 'Buried Village' of Te Wairoa, or even sheep shearing demonstrations at the Agrodome.

Day 8 Rotorua / Queenstown
After a leisurely breakfast fly from Rotorua airport to the South Island and Queenstown, your home in the Southern Alps for the next three nights.

Day 9 Queenstown
After breakfast, set off for the spectacular flight to Fiordland National Park, the largest in New Zealand, where you take a cruise of Milford Sound. Surrounded by towering peaks, lush vegetation and dramatic waterfalls, this is one of the Southern Hemisphere's greatest highlights. Return to Queenstown by scenic flight.

Day 10 Queenstown
A day free to relax. The alternatives are almost unlimited, and include driving Skipper's Canyon by 4WD, whitewater rafting on the Kawarau River, playing golf or fly fishing, though most popular is a jet boat safari of the Dart River.

Day 11 Queenstown / Christchurch
Take a flight from Queenstown to Christchurch for an overnight stay. The rest of the day is free to explore the Botanical Gardens of Christchurch or perhaps embark on a city tour or enjoy a punt on the River Avon.

Day 12 Christchurch / London
The morning is free to enjoy the activities of your choice, before driving to the airport for your overnight flight back to the UK.

Best time to be there

Summer on the north island (December to February) is ideal for outdoor pursuits with mild temperatures and hours of sunshine. Venture to the numerous ski slopes and warm up close to a crackling fire during the winter months in June to August.
