THE VESSEL
The 130-foot-long, M/V Aqua was the first true luxury cruise ship on the northern Amazon River in Peru and was custom built for Aqua Expeditions by Peruvian architect Jordi Puig in 2007. It offers an extraordinary level of comfort and a superb cruising experience.
Her sister ship, the new M/V Aria, offers the same exciting itineraries and services but is a little larger, offering 14 luxurious suites and also an outdoor Jacuzzi pool.

SAMPLE ITINERARY
Day 1 - Lima/Iquitos
Afternoon flight to Iquitos. Here you will be met and taken two hours by road to the small village of Nauta to board the criise ship and enjoy an delicious dinner as you watch the river go by.
Day 2 - Yanallpa/Ucayali River
After a delightful breakfast, enjoy a morning walk to Yanallpa Lake looking out for the strange hoatzin bird along the way. Four expert guides will accompany excursions and be on hand on board to answer any queries. Afternoon slow cruise along the Ucayali River - watch the local fishermen catch their strange array of Amazon fish and the banana rafts drift on by to market down river.
Day 3 - Puinahua River/Pacaya River
Morning jungle walk and visit to the Hatum Posa village. Afternoon and evening Pacaya River exploration by skiff with the opportunity to spot monkeys and caiman.
Day 4 - Pacaya River
Morning exploration by skiff, hopefully seeing dolphin, monkey, parrots and macaws along the way. Afternoon opportunity to fish for piranha.
Day 5 - Iquitos/Lima
Morning river excursion. Afternoon transfer to Iquitos to enjoy a guided tour of this remote city, complete with house built by Gustav Eiffel. Continue to the San Juan Amazonian Indians Market for some last minute shopping. Transfer to the airport.
Being such a geographically diverse country the weather in Peru is determined both by altitude and season. May to October is the best time to travel although the Amazon area is hot and humid throughout the year.
