Enjoy a lavish afternoon tea served on the manicured lawn before departing on an adventurous safari game drive in an open vehicle with a guide and Shangaan tracker.
Joanne Swinton dealt with us and our holiday with endless good humour and patience. Her suggestions were perfect and we all had a magical time. She really knew her "stuff". She even organised a car and driver for our first full day in Dar es Salaam which was a kindness beyond any duty. She arranged for our unaccompanied children to be chaperoned through all the airports, and for my husband and me to be taken care of too.

This charming property welcomes you to experience yesteryear with all the modern comforts desired. Kirkmans Kamp was named in honour of W. Harry Kirkman, one of South Africa's foremost conservationists, who began his illustrious career as a ranger in 1927. With gracious staff the service is exceptional in keeping with the luxurious and historic surrounds of the property.
The suites at Kirkman's Kamp are beautifully appointed all with a wide verandah and an ensuite bathroom with a free standing bath designed with clean lines and mementos from the 1920's. Old-fashioned bedsteads combine with modern luxuries to create the perfect safari atmosphere.
The main area of the lodge hosts a beautiful lounge area and elegant dining area, with a large swimming pool looking out to the dry river bed. Massages are available at the lodge.
An ideal lodge for families and children of all ages are welcome; children under the age of 5 years old are not able to join in the game drive activities.
Best time to be there
October to May is the best time to visit the Cape. Game viewing is better during the drier months of April to September. The wildflower season is generally from mid August to mid September. The whale watching season runs from June to November.
