Why we like it
- A family run lodge based in the heart on the wildlife rich Londolozi reserve
- All rooms have private decks and pools overlooking the riverine bush
- Family friendly
- Game drives run in the early morning or afternoon, in order to get the best viewings
- Other activities include stargazing, bird watching and bush dining
- Have the chance to visit local villages and immerse in local culture
Spend the evenings listening to tales and sharing stories by the long burning camp fire.
Joanne Swinton took great care in proposing a trip tailored exactly to our requirements, accompanied by great customer focus.
- FJ, Perthshire
Founded in 1926, Varty is the original camp at Londolozi. The camp fire has burned in the same spot where the Varty forefathers set up their tents 82 years ago and embodies the significance of this camp and the Varty family's custodianship. Today's camp comprises of eight chalets and two superior chalets, each with private plunge pool and elevated decks with expansive river views. The camp has a down to earth and comfortable feel with emphasis on family heritage, welcoming children of all ages as they have always had a place at Londolozi Varty.
Best time to be there
October to May is the best time to visit the Cape. Game viewing is better during the drier months of April to September. The wildflower season is generally from mid August to mid September. The whale watching season runs from June to November.
