Rovos rail is rightly deserving of the international acclaim it receives for creating truly world class travel experiences. Described by many as 'The World's Most Luxurious Train', Rovos Rail reflects the romance and atmosphere of a bygone era. Refurbished using traditional and sympathetic techniques the wood panelled coaches are in concourse condition and set the scene for a truly unique journey through some of Africa's finest scenery. Hauled by steam, diesel and electric locomotives, just 72 priviledged passengers can enjoy this elegant mode of travel at a time.
Boasting the largest train suites in the world, comfort is assured aboard the sleeper carriages. Modern conveniences sit side by side with period Edwardian features and each suite is complete with en suite bathroom, twin or double bed and all the amenities you would expect of a modern five star hotel. For an extra special experience the Royal Suites, each of which take up half a carriage benefit from the their own private lounge area, full bathroom with Victorian bath and separate shower.
Accommodation
Enjoy fine cuisine in five star luxury as you travel through breathtaking scenery. Dress code is smart-casual in the day and jacket and tie for the evenings. One of three trains, the 'Pride of Africa' links some of Africa's greatest destinations. From the 48-hour journey between Cape Town and Pretoria to the 13 day journey linking Cape Town to Dar-es-Salaam in Tanzania. Other journeys include the game reserves of Mpumalanga, the mighty Victoria Falls, desert landscapes of Namibia, the lush canefields of KwaZulu Natal, the magnificent Garden Route, but perhaps the most impressive - the Cape to Cairo.
