Rosyth Estate House
Why we like it
- A restored colonial planter's bungalow, set in a private estate
- Set high up in the hills, at an elevation of 1,000 feet above sea level
- Take a tour of the estate's tea factory relax in the outdoor sala on the pool terrace
- A home away from home experience
- We recommend the slightly larger deluxe rooms for the perfect stay
Take a trip to the local market, soak in the smells, sights and vibrant colours. Select your fresh produce to take back to the house for the chef to create a traditional local Sri Lankan feast.
We had an outstanding guide, Mr Upali Guneratne. His expert knowledge about the temples and ancient sites we visited, Sri Lankan history and customs, and the Island’s flora and wildlife made it a memorable experience for us both.
- AM, Hampshire
All of the rooms and suites have been individually styled with large windows to take in the beautiful views and creating a light and airy place to stay. Discover how the delicate tea leaves are transformed into the refreshing drink that we are all so familiar with. Enjoy walks and bike rides through the surrounding trails. There is a large verandah on the front of the house, the perfect place to sit with a cup of freshly brewed tea.
Best time to be there
During our winter months, when the humidity is lower and the temperature more comfortable for sightseeing and exploration. However, the monsoon season of May to September should not be discounted for travel as the whole of Sri Lanka is bursting into lush greenery due to the rainfall showing you a side of this island not everyone sees.
