Day 1 UK – Arusha, Tanzania
Today leave the UK and fly to Kilimanjaro via Amsterdam. On arrival you will be met and transferred to Arusha for your first night.
Arusha Coffee Lodge | Meals: Breakfast
Day 2 - 3 Arusha / Katavi
Take an early morning flight from Arusha via the Serengeti (dependent on schedule) and Tabora to refuel. Arrive into Katavi in the far west of Tanzania in time for a late lunch and a siesta, should you fancy some rest, or exploring camp. The next day you'll have the opportunity to go out on a morning game drive, heading further into the wilds of Katavi. Renowned for its game, huge herds of buffalo and elephant are often on the plains in front of camp and the animal interaction can be intense, with large numbers of hippopotamus and crocodiles inhabiting the rivers.
Chada Katavi | Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Days 4 - 5 Katavi
An early start beats the heat. Explore further afield and take a picnic lunch with you as you head to your fly camp where you'll spend the night. Awaken in your tent the next morning and enjoy a cook-out breakfast. We'd recommend you take a short walk before a game drive back to camp.
Fly Camp Katavi | Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Days 6 - 8 Katavi / Mahale
Depart mid-morning from Chada Katavi for your one-hour flight to Mahale airstrip, followed by a 90 minute trip down the lake in a traditional dhow boat to Greystoke Mahale, with lunch on board. On arrival the staff will give you an introduction to the camp and the chimpanzee activities. You'll have time to take a dhow cruise down the lake, try a spot of fishing, take a short forest hike, or just relax on the beach or in the mess tent. In two groups of six you'll be led up the narrow mountain trails to find the chimpanzees, with whom you will spend a magical hour. You'll have ample opportunities for chimp trekking over your three days at camp.
Greystoke Mahale | Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Day 9 Greystoke Mahale/Arusha
Rise early for a kayak on the lake or relax in camp before boarding the dhow and heading back to the airstrip for your flight to Kilimanjaro to connect with your overnight flight back to the UK via Amsterdam.
Day 10 UK
This morning arrive back in the UK.
