Why we like it
- Idyllic setting on the northernmost peninsula of Zanzibar
- All rooms and suites feature a private balcony Peponi Spa offers pampering and holistic treatments
- Enjoy views of the Indian Ocean or lush tropical gardens
- An excellent choice for couples and families
Enjoy an intimate and romantic private dinner on the beachfront listening to the waves gently lapping in the distance.
My wife, Cindy, and I travelled with A&K this September. Saying that we were “very satisfied” would be an understatement. I did not feel that the survey I received provided a way for me to say how satisfied we are and to commend some individuals.

A cluster of whitewashed, palm-thatched cottages in rich tropical gardens overlooking the sparkling Indian Ocean, Ras Nungwu Beach Hotel is the ultimate place to relax and enjoy the beauty of the natural surroundings without forsaking modern comforts. The luxury property stretches out across sun-dappled garden paths on a stretch of coastline fringed by a thriving coral reef that is teeming with marine life.
All 32 rooms are tastefully furnished with hand-crafted four-poster beds and ethnic style interiors created using local fabrics such as khangas, kokois and kitenges. The elegant rooms all benefit from balconies, air-conditioning and deluxe bathrooms, while the private detached Ocean Suite offers a private plunge pool and spacious living areas, making it ideal for couples and families alike.
Home to one of the most unspoilt beaches on the island, Ras Nungwi Beach Hotel is ideal for lazy days on the beach. Activities offered by the on-site watersports centre include snorkeling, kayaking and traditional dhow cruises, or you can head off and explore the nearby reef, lagoon and rock pools.
