Accommodation

Whichever way you look at it, a stay at Whichaway Camp is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. This is a unique camp in an unparalleled location. With only 12 guests able to stay here at any one time, it is exclusive and a world away from home. Read more

Cape Town - Antarctica

Leave Cape Town and take a five-hour flight to Antarctica. During the trip over the Southern Ocean, you will see thousands of icebergs and a completely unique land and seascape. During the flight, the plane will cross into the polar circle and the into 24 hours continuous daylight. Landing on the specialist ice runway, you will transfer to the camp and go for a gentle trek around the oasis – a rocky outcrop in the ice.

Antarctica

Settle into White Desert’s Whichaway Camp where you are free to do as much or as little as you like each day. Activities range from gentle treks to the incredible ice waves, to kite-skiing, ice climbing and even abseiling. The choice is yours as you get to know this new region and environment. While here, you are in the best possible luxury (and warmth), ensuring that visitors to the area are comfortable, while their impact is carefully considered and controlled.

Antarctica

After a warming and hearty breakfast, it’s time to get back on the plane and fly a further two hours across Antarctica. This is a great time for some wonderful photos as you will see immense views of the high polar plateau, before landing at the Emperor penguin colony. Very few people have ever witnessed such a spectacle and be able to see the real-life stars of March of the Penguins.

Antarctica

Today it’s all about the frozen world as you explore the ice waves beneath the camp. You have the opportunity to delve into a series of ice tunnels that are as surreal as they are beautiful. The day ends with a visit to the nearby science base where you can learn more about their work, followed by a well-deserved sauna and then dinner with your fellow guests.

South Pole

It’s an early start this morning as you will head off in the DC3 Basler plane, across stunning mountain ranges. Take a break at 83-degrees south to refuel the plane. You will have a chance to walk around the high polar plateau before continuing onto the pole. At the South Pole itself, there will be lots of time for photos, a tour around the base and a chance to stamp your passport before camping down for the night.

Antarctica

After a night spent camping at the pole, enjoy an excellent breakfast before boarding the plane once again for the flight back to the Whichaway Camp. Take your time to feast your eyes because this flight is the perfect chance to really appreciate the immense scale of Antarctica and commit it to memory. Once back at the camp, tuck into a three-course dinner and champagne to celebrate your achievement.

Antarctica

Today starts calmly after breakfast, with talks from the polar explorer staff about some of the lesser known history of Antarctica and their world record-breaking expeditions. Then it’s time for kite-skiing around the camp, followed by a giant abseil off the nearby Nunatak mountain to really get your adrenalin pumping.

Antarctica – Cape Town

Take a moment this morning to breath in the South Pole. This flight out of Antarctica will be the last of your unforgettable Antarctic memories. Dwell on the cold and calm environment before you delve back into the noise and heat of Africa. After landing, you will be transferred to your hotel where you will have a chance to relax in a hot bath and reflect on your Antarctic adventure and exceptional experiences.
