About Quinta Real Oaxaca
The five-star Quinta Real Oaxaca is unique in México thanks to its fabulous, historic location. The hotel is housed in the former Convent of Santa Catalina, which, built in 1576, is a grand colonial property now meticulously restored. Its Spanish Baroque architecture and authentic colonial touches have been retained, giving an atmospheric flavour of Oaxaca's past.
Original features abound. Long tiled corridors are adorned with fading original frescoes, whilst sun-washed courtyards and flower filled patios and gardens are bordered by wonderful colonial archways and portals.
The rooms are large with wooden beam and terracotta tile ceilings, stucco walls, restored original floor tiles and queen or double beds. All are tastefully decorated with native weavings and Oaxacan crafts, whilst the modern bathrooms are decorated with beautiful Mexican tiles.
