Dubrovnik is Croatia's most southern city and often referred to as the "jewel of the Adriatic". Its magic has captured the hearts of many visitors, including George Bernard Shaw who was enchanted by this beautiful city.
The old town was completed in the 13th century and remains virtually unchanged to this day, despite being bombed by the Serbs in 1991 and restored to its former glory. Surrounded by tall ramparts, there are only two entrances to the old town which lead to the Stradun, the city's promenade.
Dubrovnik is alive with history and culture, a buzzing café society, a sparkling night life and at the beginning of October every year it is host to the International Film Festival. However, only minutes away from the city you can find yourself on one of its many surrounding islands such as Lokrum, Mliet or Elaphite, where you will see virgin landscapes and flourishing flora and fauna.
