Highlights

Classic Nile

A cruise down the majestic River Nile makes the wonders of Ancient Egypt come alive. You’ll be cruising on a floating five-star hotel with every modern comfort imaginable. This is a classic Nile tour with a pronounced sense of style. Drift past temples, tombs, colossal statues, wildlife and farmlands that line the banks as they have for millennia. At your side you’ll have the expert tutelage of an Egyptologist, revealing secret insights and deepening your appreciation. See where Howard Carter discovered Tutankhamun’s burial chamber, lose yourself in the meandering alleys of bustling souks, ponder ancient hieroglyphics. And then relax as you sail gently down the Nile.

UK - Luxor

We’ll meet you at Luxor Airport and take you to Sofitel Winter Palace, a landmark hotel on the bank of the Nile.

Luxor

After breakfast transfer to the Nile Adventurer which will transport you down the meandering Nile, past treasures and temples and ethereal landscapes. This will be your home for the next four night. The Nile is the perfect vantage point from which to appreciate the wonders of this ancient land. The banks of the river have set the scene for daily life for thousands of years, and today it can seem as though nothing has changed. To begin your cruise, your Egyptologist guides you around the East Bank of Luxor including the strikingly graceful Temple of Luxor dedicated to the god Amun.

Luxor to Edfu

Visit the Temple of Karnak, built over a period of a thousand years by generations of Pharaohs. The great Hypostyle Hall is an incredible forest of giant pillars, covering an area larger than the whole of Notre Dame Cathedral. Later on, set sail to Esna. Here you visit the Greco-Roman Temple of Khnum at Esna. Afternoon tea is served as you sail to Edfu.

Edfu and Kom Ombo Temples

This morning explore the Temple of Edfu. Lunch is served as you cruise to Kom Ombo.  Visit the Temple of Kom Ombo, dedicated to the crocodile-god Sobek. The temple stands at a bend in the Nile where in ancient times sacred crocodiles basked in the sun on the riverbank.

Philea Temple and Felucca Sailing

Following breakfast, enjoy a short motorboat ride to visit the majestic Philae Temple on the Island of Agilika. Next proceed to the Granite Quarries, which supplied the ancient Egyptians with most of the hard stone used in pyramids and temples. Here you see the Unfinished Obelisk, located in the northern region of the stone quarries. Catch a single-sail felucca and visit some of the small islands around here, which are home to some important ruins.

Depart Egypt

After breakfast, you’ll be transported to the airport for your flight back to the UK. Alternatively, extend your stay in Aswan.
