About Mnemba Island Lodge

On an exclusive island just 4.5km off the north-eastern coast of Zanzibar, the 12 rustic palm fronted bandas of Mnemba Island Lodge are hidden in the shade of a tropical forest fringed by a soft white sand beach. Surrounded by spectacular coral reefs, the lodge affords some of Africa's most wonderful dive sites with unsurpassed visibility, and guests at the property can enjoy two daily dives with experienced instructors.

The Mnemba Island Lodge exudes a rustic yet luxurious style, with traditional Zanzabari wood carvings scattered throughout the lodges. All of the bandas are hand woven from palm fonds and feature en suite bathrooms and spacious private verandas offering unparalleled views of the African coastline.

An ideal location for honeymooners, here you can spend your day snorkeling around the lively house reef that is teeming with fish, or relax on the coral sand beach, keeping an eye out for the green turtles who lay their eggs on the island. Baskets of fresh fruit, fish and lobsters are sailed in daily by traditional ngalawa outriggers, and in the evening we recommend a candle lit dinner at the water's edge taking in the heady scents and romance of a bygone era as you feel the sand between your toes.
