A trip to Venice would not be complete without a tour of the glass factory. Ask your water taxi to stop at the little island of Murano, famed for its beautiful glassware production. Take a look around a prestigious workshop for a behind-the-scenes look into the art of traditional glass-blowing. There’ll also be time for a spot of shopping, with an expert on hand to help you pick out the perfect souvenir for your mantelpiece. 

You can visit Venice’s grand opera house Teatro La Fenice without seeing a production (although we can organise tickets should you wish). Take a tour around this splendid piece of architecture that houses classics such as Tristan und Isolde by Wagner as well as exclusive one-off concerts. One of the most beautiful concert halls in the world, learn the history behind its extravagant interiors – ornate gilding, glass chandeliers and gold leaf decorations – which took a team of over 200 artisans to create.

Explore the lesser-known Dorsoduro area where Peggy Guggenheim lived in a Grand Canal palazzo. What was once her home is now a museum dedicated to the American heiress, showcasing her impressive collection of modern art. Peruse works by Picasso, Mondrian, Miró and Duchamp, to name only a few of the revered artists on show. Don’t miss the Nasher Sculpture Garden, its latest addition, an abstract wonderland and peaceful place for a stroll.
