ESCAPISM: crystal clear waters
A thousand miles off the coast of Africa, the 115 islands of the Seychelles scatter like gemstones across the blue expanse of the Indian Ocean.
These seductive islands offer unspoilt beauty in a natural setting, whether on a flat coral castaway atoll or an island carpeted by rich vegetation and dominated by rugged granite mountains. Winding lanes meander through swaying coconut groves; crystal clear waters lap the shore and, as night falls, enjoy intimate candlelit dinners beneath a blanket of stars.
With its reputation for a pristine, untouched environment, the Seychelles offer a sanctuary to some of the rarest species on earth including the smallest frog, the heaviest tortoise and the Indian Ocean’s only flightless bird. Stepping offshore, the surrounding ocean offers plenty of opportunities for diving and snorkelling amongst iridescent corals and shimmering shoals of fish.
Regular visitiors to the Seychelles suggest that island-hopping is rewarded by the rare spirit of these enchanting islands. The larger islands of Mahé and Praslin provide the opportunity to explore local culture, pristine beaches and diverse flora and fauna. Denis, Desroches, Frégate, North and Silhouette Islands offer the chance to experience total escapism and relaxed exclusivity in an environmentally sensitive setting.

WEATHER
The islands of the Seychelles enjoy a year-round warm tropical climate, generally governed by two opposing trade winds. The south-easterly trades blow from May to September bringing drier and windier conditions ideal for sailing. From October to March the gentler north-west trades provide calmer seas but a higher chance of refreshing showers. Scuba divers will find April, May, October and November have the warmest seas and visibility is often 30 metres plus.
