Highlights

Sacred Valley adventure

The holy grail of adventure, Peru’s ancient Sacred Valley has all ingredients to excite and delight. Thrill-seekers can get their kicks zip lining from heart-racing heights, kayaking in high-altitude lagoons and mountain biking to Inca ruins. Veer off-the beaten-track. Go white-water rafting through deep gorges. Your bed for the night? A glass capsule perched on the edge of a cliff 400 metres above the valley.

Sky-high sleep

Deep in the heart of the ancient Sacred Valley, your glamping adventure awaits. Those with vertigo look away now, perched on a cliffside, hovering at 400 metres, these polycarbonate capsule-like suites are not for the faint-hearted. You’ll need a helmet and harness for the climb up on the via ferrata (a steel-cable climbing route). Alternatively, you can make your ascent by way of an exciting zip-line hike. You’ll be rewarded with unobstructed valley views. And it’s not without luxurious trimmings. A dedicated chef will rustle up a four-course dinner under the stars.

Zip-lining adventure

Wake up to the glow of natural light, the best way to start the day. Perhaps you’ll spot condors, gliding in the morning thermals. Then don your helmet again for a zip-lining adventure over the valley. It’s a unique way of immersing yourself in the dazzling landscape. Guided by specialists, glide along seven cables ranging from 150 to 700 metres long. You can take it as quickly or slowly as you please. Just remember your GoPro.

Kayaking & mountain biking

Set off for Lake Huaypo, a remote lake cradled by the Andes. Accompanied by an expert guide, paddle in a sea kayak onto pancake-flat waters spotting birdlife in the reeds and greeting local fishermen. Revive with a gourmet picnic before stopping at the circular ruins of Moray, what could have been an Inca agricultural lab. Then head to the town of Maras on a mountain biking jaunt, peddling through the quinoa fields with a backdrop of snow-capped mountains. The trail ends at the famous terraced salt pans, which positively shimmer in the afternoon light.

White-water rafting

Drive south to a beautiful section of the mighty Urubamba River. Here a team of rafting experts will meet you on the banks and explain the drill. Kit up and hop on your inflatable raft, testing your newfound paddling skills. Then career down adrenaline pumping rapids (grade I and II), spinning and shooting on the bubbling water. You’ll also experience serene moments when you can simply kick back and take in the scenery of deep gorges and mesmerising mountains. A delicious picnic lunch awaits you at the end.
