UK – Cape Town

Maximise your time in cosmopolitan Cape Town by flying overnight from the UK.

Cape Town

Land in Cape Town ready to get under the skin of this beautiful, buzzing city. A member of A&K South African team will greet you and whisk you off to Kensington Place hotel. After an hour’s orientation over a flat white in a cool coffee shop, it’s time to explore. Visit the boutiques on Bree Street; the art galleries in Woodstock; and (if you’re visiting after September 2017) the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Africa Art (MOCCA). Frolic on Clifton’s beaches or Camps Bay’s. Have a sundowner on Signal Hill, or perhaps see Cape Point from the side-car of a vintage motorbike.

Cape Town – Stellenbosch

We love a road trip here at A&K and think this one will be pretty spectacular. Today, wind your way to the Winelands to Stellenbosch. Check into Oude Werf, a gorgeous historic, boutique hotel. This university town is full of elegant Cape Dutch architecture and its shapely gables.

Stellenbosch

With hundreds of wineries and vineyards to explore, spend two days here to make the most of South Africa’s famous winelands. Alight the Wine Tram as it trundles through the Franschhoek Valley. Hop off at any (or all) of the eleven stops along the route to explore some of South Africa’s oldest and most renowned estates – and maybe try a vintage or two. In Stellenbosch, the Foodies on Foot Tour is a fun (and delicious) way to explore the town’s gastro scene. Taste your way around the town and relish a sit-down lunch.

Stellenbosch – Knysna

Today cruise along the Garden Route, past incredible coastal scenery. Pass through the seaside town of Hermanus – a hot spot for whale watching – en route to the lagoon town of Knysna. The perfect antidote to today’s long albeit stunning drive can be found in your hotel’s spa. Luxuriate with a healing crystal massage or try the Rasul steam room.

Knysna

Pause in Knysna to soak up the scenery. Row your way around the town’s lagoon on a paddle board – the perfect way to see the Knysna Heads. Many an ancient mariners’ hopes were dashed on these promontories. Opt for a full-day Beer Rocking Tour. The town’s craft beer scene is thriving, and you’ll love meeting the innovative producers and tasting their high-end brews.

Port Elizabeth – UK

Drive to the airport, drop your hire car and board your flight back home, via Johannesburg.
